Abstract

A tragic tale of the daughter of a parson who is seduced by the local lord with sweet words, empty promises, and jewels. When her pregnancy can no longer be hidden, she is beaten and cast out by her father. She seeks the home of the lord, who refuses to marry someone so far below his rank, instead suggesting to marry her to his huntsman. She scorns his offer and flees back to the garden of her home where she gives birth to her child, slays him, and then hangs herself. The site is known to be haunted by her ghost evermore.
