Abstract
This tells the tragic tale of a Gill Morice, who is the illegitimate child of the wife of a nearby Baron. He sends for his mother to visit him in the woods, but the Baron, mistaking the summons to be the summons of a young lover, goes himself and kills Gill, not knowing him as the son of his wife. When he brings back Gill’s head, his wife reveals that he was her son from before they were married and begs to die herself as well.
