The girls’ father is against the match and disinherits her when she decides she runs off with him. In the beginning, it looks like she has made the wrong choice as she is forced to walk and beg for them both on the way to the Highlands, but when they arrive it turns out he is a laird and she is treated as the lady of a great estate. In the end they both go back to visit and reconcile with the father. The second song is a short ballad about a young girl’s love for a shepherd. This chapbook is part of a collection of chapbooks produced in Aberdeen which have been bound together in this volume.]]></dcterms:abstract>
